Zoning Board of Appeals Application Form

The Zoning Board of Appeals does not hold regularly scheduled meetings but schedules its meetings as appeals are filed.

Mission Statement
The Zoning Board of Appeals provides property owners in the Town of Lyman a means to address grievances with decisions of the Code Enforcement Officer.  The Board follows the procedures specified in the Municipal Ordinance of the Town of Lyman.  Board members provide a neutral, unbiased review of challenged CEO decisions to determine whether the Zoning Ordinance was misinterpreted or a variance from the Ordinance is warranted.

The Town of Lyman is seeking volunteers to join our Zoning Board of Appeals

The Zoning Board of Appeals is responsible for reviewing applications for appeals regarding decisions made by the Planning Board or the Code Enforcement Officer and also Variance appeals. More information on the Zoning Board of Appeals powers and duties can be found in the Town of Lyman Zoning Ordinance, under Article 9. 

The board consists of five members and two alternates. Terms are staggered of at least 3-year terms and not more than 5-year terms.

If you are interested in joining the Zoning Board of Appeals, please fill out our Committee Application form and send a copy to the Select Board Clerk. The Select Board will review applications for consideration of appointment.
