The Board of Assessment Review does not hold regularly scheduled meetings but schedules its meetings as appeals are filed.
About the Board
The Board of Assessment Review has the power to grant property tax abatement’s pursuant to state law and to determine the tax exempt status of real and personal property.
It functions in a quasi-judicial capacity and members must be able to hold public hearings, make findings of fact and conclusions of law in accordance with state law, and issue written decisions setting forth their findings and conclusions.

The Board of Assessment Review is responsible for reviewing applications for abatement of property taxes. This process is the secondary step of appealing a property assessment through the abatement process. The board meets as needed when applications are submitted.
This is a five member board made up of three members and two alternates.
Current openings are:
1 alternate: 1 year term
1 alternate: 2 year term
If you are interested in joining the Board of Assessment Review, please fill out our Committee Application form and send a copy to the Select Board Clerk. The Select Board will review applications for consideration of appointment.
Members of the board must be registered voters of the Town of Lyman
